Jacking & Boring

Auger boring — also known as jack and bore — is one of the most widely used
trenchless methods. Ideal for installing casing under roads, highways, and
railroads with minimal surface disruption.

- Overview

What Is Jacking & Boring?

Auger boring simultaneously "jacks" a casing forward while rotating augers inside to remove the excavated soil.
The result is a precise, controlled bore that works in a wide range of soil conditions without disturbing the surface above.

JAG Enterprises offers jacking and boring services throughout Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Wyoming for diameters up to
30 inches — ideal for road crossings, utility installations, and infrastructure projects.

Max Diameter
Up to 30 inches

Method
Auger boring / casing jack

Best For
Road & highway crossings

Surface Disruption
Minimal — trenchless

- How It Works
1
Pit Excavation
A small launch pit and receiving pit are dug at each end of the bore path — the only excavation required.

2
Casing Installation
The boring machine jacks the steel casing forward while augers inside simultaneously remove the soil.

3
Utility Placement
Once the casing is in place the carrier pipe or utility is installed inside the casing.

4
Pit Backfill
Launch and receiving pits are backfilled and the surface is restored — minimal trace left behind.
